Many punk-rock purveyors of musical mayhem spout lyrics that make them sound like a bunch of idiots who are only in it to get drunk and maybe score with some equally soused groupies. There's nothing dangerous about a buffoon that advertises his or her own stupidity in song. Primasonic (due Saturday, September 27, at the Larimer Lounge) may get drunk and otherwise carouse — or not — but at least the songs reveal that its members haven't forgotten that punk and rock music in general are about upsetting the status quo. Some do that by pushing the boundaries of what music can be, and some do it by performing music like it still means something to rock without all the edges smoothed off. This band is in the latter category, and it sure doesn't apologize for speaking unpopular truths.
