Artist and master of funky, dirty tech-house Santé is closely tied to his label, Avotre, in more ways than one. For one thing, the name itself is a play on his chosen moniker ("À votre santé" is French for "To your health" — their version of "Cheers!"). For another, he's a prolific remixer and renowned crafter of dance-worthy tunes; regular club-goers will recognize many of his creations, both original and reworked in his style. When Santé plays a set, however, he is judicious in his sampling, mixing his own work with selections from other notables in the serious tech-house scene. To give you an idea of how talented he is: Techno god Radio Slave was headlining a show at Chateau Knarz in Ulm, where Santé was a resident before moving to Berlin, and the then-up-and-comer dropped one of his own tracks — "Supervision," a collaboration with Steffen Herb — to close out his set. Radio Slave signed the track on the spot to his own label, Rekids, and it's been in heavy rotation ever since its 2009 release. He'll bring the underground techno love to Beta with Diizel and Angel Castro for P.U.N.C.H.I.S. on Friday, August 17.
