To say that Soul School/Opie Gone Bad drummer Scott Davies put himself in harm's way last night is a understatement of epochal proportions. By now, you may have read about the high speed chase last night that ended with a motorist being killed by a police officer on 5th and Lafayette. Well not only did Davies witness the whole ordeal, but evidently he intervened in such a way that prevented the officer in question from perhaps becoming the fatality himself. According to Davies account to his bandmate, reposted on the DMB, he found himself smack dab in the middle of the pursuit, between the officer and the now deceased motorist, and when the latter pointed his vehicle directly at the officer and accelerated, Davies rammed the car with his truck and pinned the suspect against the curb. At that point, the officer reportedly fired on the suspect, who was pronounced dead a short time later at Denver Health Medical Center. Aside from being shaken up from the incident, Davies fortunately escaped unharmed.
