This weekend, the space currently known as Serengeti (1037 Broadway) will be changing its name. Well, kinda. The main room and the second floor of the club will be rechristened The Shelter, while the basement will continue under its current name, Milk. The Shelter makes its debut on Friday, October 14, with performances from the Railbenders and Buckwild. The club will focus primarily on live music each Friday. And for the time being, Safari, Serengeti's wildly popular hip-hop themed night, will continue to go down on Saturday nights. No word yet on any other changes that might be in the making. We'll keep you posted.

House of Rock (11140 Irma Drive) and Whiskey Bill's (7290 West Colfax Avenue) are both going the way of hair metal. House of Rock has already closed; the joint's new owners, who reportedly will take over this week, are said to have plans to demolish the building to make room for a new club. Whiskey Bill's closes this weekend. Unfortunately, it will return in the form of a Home Depot. Stop by to bid adieu to a West Colfax institution on Saturday, October 15, when the bar hosts its last show ever, starting at 5:30 p.m., with performances by Step Short and many others.
