The Colorado Music Hall of Fame is headed for an eventful 2015. The organization, which started in 2011, is planning a permanent Hall of Fame facility at Red Rocks — according to director G. Brown, it will be open to the public early this summer. The expansion of the CMHOF also includes a new board member: George Sparks, President and CEO of the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, whose experience should serve the organization well.

We'll let you know what to expect from the Hall of Fame itself (and when exactly it will be open) as soon as we know more. Meanwhile, here's the full announcement from the CMHOF on Sparks:

DENVER – 5/4/15 -The Colorado Music Hall of Fame, a non-profit organization founded in 2011 to inspire music fans with the power of Colorado music history, announces that George Sparks, the President and CEO of the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, has joined the CMHOF board of directors.

Sparks’ passion is educational public policy, particularly around STEAM (adding Arts to the traditional Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). George is currently working with the Smithsonian Science Education Center to bring their science curriculum to schools in Colorado. He is a member of Colorado Concern and the Colorado Forum, and serves on the boards of the Denver Foundation, Colorado Legacy Foundation, Visit Denver, Mountain States Employers Council, Rose Community Foundation’s Education Committee, Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, Colorado Bright Beginnings (emeritus), and the Public Education and Business Coalition (emeritus). He is also on the United States Committee of the International Council of Museums.

CMHOF chairman Chuck Morris welcomes Sparks: “George has been responsible for developing the Denver Museum of Nature & Science into one of the finest resources in the country. His addition to our varied and accomplished board of directors is a historic moment for CMHOF.”
