1. The Last Waltz revisited

Why you should go: While our town is blessed with an unbelievable amount of original music, the show we're most looking forward to this weekend features more than two dozen musicians playing somebody else's music. This annual show has become a Thanksgiving week tradition and without fail it usually turns out to be among the most memorable of the year. Each year since 2005, the chameleon-like Polytoxic, led by Tori Pater, gathers all of its friends and deftly recreates The Last Waltz, the Band's 1976 swan song, which took place on Thanksgiving day that same year at the Winterland Ballroom and was immortalized by Martin Scorsese, in its entirety. The three-hour show is magical whether your a fan of the Band or just want to see some local minstrels losing themselves and having the time of their lives.

Why you should go: Maybe it's just us, but we find Maynard James Keenan to be one of the most compelling and talented performers going today, regardless of what band he's fronting, be it Tool, A Perfect Circle or this band, Puscifer. Dude is a virtually unparalleled vocalist and is simply fascinating to watch perform as he clearly takes his craft seriously -- even if he doesn't take himself quite as seriously. Oh, and he gives good quote, as you'll see from reading the feature length Q&A with him that we posted earlier this week.

With Blue Million Miles and According Crimes

Why you should go: Remember the unbelievable amount of original music we mentioned earlier? This is the kind of show that you need to experience to fully appreciate what we're talking about. This is the kind of show that exemplifies what makes Denver special: Three absolutely top notch acts that are unquestionably headliners in their own right, combining efforts to make one cant' miss bill. If you like your rock herky and jerky, spacey and textured and tuneful yet messy, 3 Kings is the place to be tonight.
