1. The Don'ts & Be Carefuls With Josephine and the Mousepeople, I Sank Molly Brown Pep*Squad, Lungs They Burn Meadowlark Friday, December 4. Doors open at 8pm. $6

Why you should go: This isn't a good deal. Six bucks for one or two good bands and three or four awesome ones? No, this is highway robbery.

Hate their sound if you must, but there's no denying the Don'ts & Be Carefuls have captured that teenage feeling, which is plenty for us. Josephine and the Mousepeople will have you dancing either way, and those other guys are no slouches - I Sank Molly Brown in particular is a band headed up in a big way.

2. Moonspeed Larimer Lounge Saturday, December 5. Show starts at 9pm. $10

Why you should go:Moonspeed is huge, literally and in sound, boasting 11 members and a live show sure to win converts or at least warm hearts. And Widowers opens. That's Mike Marchant's band, and if there's a more interesting guitarist in town, we haven't found him.

3. Tab Benoit With Hello Kavita Gothic Theater Friday, December 4. Doors open at 8pm. $22

Why you should go: Benoit is a Louisiana bluesman of the highest caliber, known for his monstrously talented guitar work and commitment to what we'll call Cajunism. He's supported by some local folkies who ain't half bad either - Hello Kavita are fresh off the release of their excellent To A Loved One, an album rich in soul and warmth.
