To say that New Orleans collective My Jerusalem (playing the Larimer Lounge tonight with Michael Kingcaid and Sour Boy, Bitter Girl) is a supergroup would be a mild understatement. Led by Jeff Klein, the group features members who have played in bands such as Cursive, the Twilight Singers, the Polyphonic Spree, Bishop Allen and more. While the unifier among the musicians is Klein himself, the chemistry of horns, strings and hollow kick drum beats is evident in how it all seamlessly comes together.

Making its official debut at SXSW 2009, the octet has been on the road recently in support of its debut record, Gone for Good, released in the fall of last year. While the record itself is beautiful, hearing the symphony of My Jerusalem's varying instrumentation and beautifully interlaced vocals in a live setting is well worth getting out and about on a Tuesday night. This show is 21-and-up, and tickets are $10-$12. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and bands start at 8:30.
