Weekend Dance Card: Sub.Mission anniversary, DJ ESP, patio parties and more

The mile-high city continues to represent electronica with an array of events this weekend -- starting off with tonight's Full Flavor Friday, featuring DJ ESP (aka Woody McBride) at the Appaloosa Grill with resident Greg Campbell, plus Garret and Sound Advice. They'll be dishing out free promo records and CD's of "Guten Timen," McBride's upcoming release, at the show. (21+, 9 p.m.-2 a.m., $10 suggested donation)

Two Denver favorites -- Pete Bones and Ty Tek -- take over Beauty Bar tonight. London-based Pete "the Shaker" Bones spread his unique brand of house touring the world over and is the man behind the Red Ant label; local hero Ty Tek has, for years, been one of Colorado's best and most respected techie house DJs. (21+, 10 p.m.-1:30 a.m., no cover)

Also tonight, Therapy is back at 2200. John Hawley from Milwaukee headlines with Uriah West and Therapy residents Brett Starr and Rescue. A talented house producer as well as DJ, Hawley always brings his A-game to Colorado. (21+, 10 p.m.-2 a.m., no cover)

Closing down two lanes of Larimer Street tonight is the ever-surprising Whomp Truck crew as they present Cirque Voltaire's opening-night show -- an evening of dark surreal circus acts and the thumpin' beats we love to Whomp to. Located at the Meadowlark, this promises to be a fantastic evening of creativity in both the artistic and dance-music sense, with DJs spinning house to dubstep to whomp. (18+, 6 p.m.-2 a.m., $15)

Saturday, Sub.mission celebrates four years of dubstep parties with Jakes, 12th Planet, Goth Trad, Scarub (from Living Legends) and Toki Wright at Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom and Cervantes' Other Side. A well-deserved birthday for one of Denver's most reliable dubstep promoters. ($20-$25, 8 p.m., all ages)

House Heads Anonymous and Soul Residue are teaming up for Saturday's It's a House Thing party at 1043 Broadway, featuring DJ MES, Chase Teter, Devious D, Digital Disko, Isaac H and Travis Press. You must RSVP to [email protected] to get your name on the list and get your feet in the door! (21+, doors at midnight, $15 donation)

Chris Lake will be spinning at Beta on Saturday night; the British DJ had a huge hit in "Sleepwalker" in 2010 on the mau5trap label and his known for his house and electro beats -- hearing him on the soundsystem at Beta will definitely be a treat! (18+, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., $10)

The Shpongletron Experience will hit the Boulder Theater this Saturday. Driven by the UK-based DJ Simon Posford, the show is known for its mind-bending and full sensory onslaught which includes unique visuals, dancers, artists, and electronica from the likes of Random Rab. For all of you missing Burning Man, this is right up your alley. (All ages, 8 p.m.-2 a.m., $43)

And there are two patio parties to chose from Sunday: The Meadowlark hosts Sunday Funday every Sunday starting this month. The event kicks off with free burgers and hot dogs and a slew of local DJs. Over at 2200, Dirty Funk Squad will be joined by Brett Starr, Brandon Bass and Louis Marr. Let the good times roll!
