ALEX CELLER @ BETA | FRIDAY, 12.7.12 Thessaloniki, the second-largest city in Greece, is not one you automatically associate with electronic music. However, that's where Alex Celler (aka Alexandros Berdos) saw such stars as Juan Atkins and Jeff Mills in the late 1990s, and after Celler moved to London six years later, his love affair with tech-house was complete. He's since spun in the venerable London nightclub Fabric, as well as high-profile venues in Moscow, Amsterdam, Berlin and Ibiza, throwing down a minimal-tinged mixture of rare crate finds and cutting-edge tracks that have been supplemented lately with his own experimentation behind the mixing platforms (Celler's a prolific producer, as well). As much he might experiment, though, there's one thing he always keeps at the forefront of his mind when he's entertaining the masses, and that's a steady, danceable groove. He'll be entertaining the crowd in Beta's Beatport Lounge on Friday, December 7; Sergei Loginov vs. Shea Delany and DJ Lobot will support, and on the main floor, Kill the Noise, Fury and Coult-45 bring the bass. (9 p.m., 18+, $5-$15)

EOTO @ FILLMORE AUDITORIUM | SATURDAY, 12.8.12 Since String Cheese partially disbanded in 2007, things have slowed for some of the former members, while others have picked up the pace with new projects. The latter holds true for the String Cheese rhythm section of Jason Hann and Michael Travis with their current undertaking, EOTO (End Of Time Observatory). While EOTO began as a side project, with the pair indulging their looping and appreciation of DJ music in between SCI gigs, it has evolved way beyond that. While this has been a great way to reach the massive String Cheese fanbase already in existence, the two have also begun to gain momentum with new fans. VibeSquaD, NiT GRiT and artists Alex and Allyson Grey will also help entertain the masses at the Fillmore Auditorium. (7:30 p.m., all ages, $25) -- Patrick Sites
