Still Small is an awfully modest title for this disc, which serves as a de facto introduction to one of the most promising acts on the Denver scene. Main Yellow man Scott Kerr is a former member of Five Iron Frenzy, but the music made by him and his fellows steers clear of Frenzy's peppy Christian ska-core in favor of power pop filled to the brim with bright hooks and snappy grooves. The quasi-psychedelic "Lesser Ones," the comparatively gritty "North" and the driving "Merge" are only three of Still Small's large achievements. Color me impressed.
