Andrew Kubicek was arrested on child-pornography charges after a search warrant was executed for Remedy Care Center Medical Marijuana Dispensary, where he worked -- and if the center's name rings a bell, it should. Elizabeth "Libby" Santaguida, allegedly murdered by her brother in April, also worked at Remedy Care, as did her father, at whose home her body was found.

At this writing, the Remedy Care Center connection to Kubicek, who's accused of distributing child-porn images on a peer-to-peer network, and Libby Santaguida appears to be coincidental. But there's no denying that the dispensary has had more than its share of unfortunate publicity over the past seven months or so.

The Libby Santaguida case was among the more lurid Colorado homicides of the year. According to the arrest affidavit for Zachariah Santaguida, Libby's brother, she often commuted to Remedy Care with her father, Richard Santaguida, a doctor specializing in writing medical marijuana recommendations. However, on April 8, he traveled to the center on his own at approximately 12:45 p.m., with her agreeing to meet him there at 4 p.m.

That didn't happen -- and when officers arrived at the Santaguida home later that evening, they found Libby laying on her back at the bottom of a spiral staircase, with her black pants partially pulled down "so that her panties were exposed," according to the report, which added, "The female was unresponsive."

The home itself was "in complete disarray," the document continues. "There was clutter and trash throughout the entire house on the floors, countertops and furniture. There were also numerous prescription bottles throughout the house. Richard told Deputy Krelle that Elizabeth was on numerous 'psyche' meds, however did not believe that she would ever harm herself. Several beer cans and a yagermeister [sic] liquor bottle were observed in the basement as well."

The Jägermeister comes up again in a subsequent portion of the report, which quotes Libby's sister, Rebecca:

Investigator Kate Battan interviewed Rebecca Santaguida at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at approximately 4:31 a.m. Rebecca provided background on Elizabeth and the family dynamics. Specifically she told Investigator Battan that within the last few days, she saw a bottle of Yagermeister [sic] in Zacharaiah Santaguida's bedroom lying on his bed. She believes that he stole that from Elizabeth's bedroom and actually told Elizabeth about it. She does not know if Elizabeth confronted Zachariah Santaguida about it.

After the interview was completed, the family was advised that Zachariah Santaguida was being arrested for the murder of Elizabeth. Rebecca then told Investigator Battan she had additional information and she was re-interviewed at 7:57 a.m. Specifically she said that when she told Elizabeth about the stolen Yagermeister [sic], Elizabeth told her it had been next to a vibrator that she had received as a gag gift. The vibrator had been taken as well. Rebecca said Elizabeth told her the vibrator was still in its original package and had not been used. Rebecca said in the last couple of days, Elizabeth found the vibrator in the upstairs couch cushions. It was no longer in its original package.

Denver Police Department release about Andrew Kubicek arrest:

Joint Police Effort Leads To Arrest in Child Exploitation Investigation

A series of investigations by Denver Police and Westminster Police has lead to the arrest of a man in Southwest Denver.

On Tuesday, November 23, 2010 Denver Police executed a search warrant at the Remedy Care Center Medical Marijuana Dispensary located at 1850 South Federal Boulevard. This was the result of an ongoing joint investigation by Denver and Westminster Police into the distribution of child pornography via peer-to-peer networks in Colorado. Investigators from both departments had earlier located a computer sharing child pornography files which led investigators to the dispensary.

During the execution of the search warrant, evidence was discovered that led to the arrest of employee Andrew Kubicek (D.O.B. 07-29-81) who is suspected of distributing the images. Kubicek is being held for Investigation of Sexual Exploitation of Children and is on a $20,000 bond.
