Cannabis Calendar for the Week of June 15: Blaze a Path in the Industry

Want to run your own marijuana business? There's more to the industry than dispensaries and growing operations. Check out some of the socials, discussions and expos for up-and-coming ganjapreneurs in this week's Cannabis Calendar.

Funky Buddha Lounge will host High Social Happy Hour by Blazer — a happy hour for the cannabis industry — on Tuesday, June 16, at 6 p.m. The free, 21+ networking social will have a pitch element for pot entrepreneurs and possible investors, and dressing up is encouraged. Also on Tuesday, June 16, Above the Law will host Conversing About Cannabis– a discussion of marijuana law for legal professionals, investors and business owners of the legal cannabis industry. The talk will take place over cocktails at 6:30 p.m at Beryl's Beer Company. The three-hour panel discussion will guide attendees through the intricacies of marijuana laws; panel participants will include marijuana attorneys, a law professor, and the owner of a Colorado dispensary chain. The U.S. Cannabis Expo will take place June 19-20 at the Colorado Springs Event Center, located at 960 Palmer Park Boulevard in Colorado Springs. The trade show is expected to have more than 100 vendors and 35 speakers, covering nearly all aspects of the emerging industry (medical products, hemp products, recreational legislation, etc.). Mixed Bag: Marijuana in the Highlands — a photo exhibition on the movement toward cannabis legalization — will be open for viewing through Saturday, June 27, at the Colorado Photographic Arts Center. The exhibition focuses on Colorado's retail cultivation centers as well as underground operations in Northern California. Admission is free. Learn more here.

The National Cannabis Industry Association's Cannabis Business Summit will be in Denver June 29-July 1, at the Colorado Convention Center. Just about every topic pertaining to regulated cannabis will be covered in depth at this pot-money hotbed — from accounting and finance to security and sustainability. Dozens of keynote speakers will be available for questions during panel discussions, and there will be daily networking opportunities. Tickets start at $895. The NCIA will also bring festivities to Denver's pot industry on Tuesday, June 30, with the NCIA & Bhang Corporation Present: Cannabis Carnival II at the Fillmore Auditorium. The celebration will feature live music from Medeski Martin & Wood, Everyone Orchestra, Quixotic and Rob Garza of Thievery Corporation. Interested in learning how to grow cannabis at a commercial level? Clover Leaf University teaches Cannabis Cultivation 102: Warehouse Cultivation at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30 at the office buildings of 3888 East Mexico Avenue. The four-hour course focuses on the components of cannabis growing mediums, watering, lighting, ventilation and cycles. Curriculum also includes pest control methods, advanced harvesting techniques and the importance of curing. The cost to attend is $299, and attendees receive a certificate upon completion.
