But there was nothing he could do to prevent cameras outside the building -- and he and his wife were both greeted by a gaggle of press, including a TMZ.com cameraman who tried to prompt a response from the Two and a Half Men star by declaring, "Charlie, you're awesome!"
Sheen didn't respond to that or a subsequent suggestion, as he exited the area, that he and Brooke take a nice vacation together. See the exchanges in the video above.
However, Sheen (or should we say Carlos Irwin Estevez) and Mueller will be able to communicate directly now that Judge James B. Boyd relaxed a protective order at her request. But that doesn't mean Sheen's troubles are over, as evidenced by the charges against him. A court document dated yesterday -- read it here -- contains three counts: menacing, third-degree assault and criminal mischief.
Mueller reportedly wants these allegations to be dropped, and in a world where celebrity justice is frequently more equal than the kind meted out to the rest of us, that's not beyond the realm of possibility. But before any of that can happen, Sheen is due back in court on March 15. Expect TMZ to be on hand to greet him.
