"There's an increase in drug dealers trying to legitimize their trade by selling to dispensaries, and they're hiding behind that," North Metro Drug Task Force Commander Jerry Peters told us at the time. "They'll say, 'I work for a dispensary. That's why I'm growing marijuana.' But they also have other drugs there as well."
Cut to Tuesday, when the Broomfield Police raided a home and discovered a 177-plant marijuana grow, plus cocaine, prescription pills and nitrous oxide. Because, apparently, variety is the spice of life.

The Broomfield Police Department assisted the North Metro Task Force with the execution of a search warrant in the 1100 block of Sage Street in Broomfield at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Once the residence was secured, detectives found a 177 plant marijuana cultivation operation in the home along with cocaine, prescription pills, nitrous oxide, and a loaded handgun.Daniel Lehman / 050784 / of Broomfield was arrested, booked and released from the Broomfield Detention Center pending the filing of charges for cultivation of marijuana, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance with the intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lauren Myers / 051585 / of Boulder was also arrested, booked and released from the Broomfield Detention Center pending the filing of charges for abusing toxic vapors and possession drug paraphernalia.
Further investigation is ongoing.
