Beginning January 1, annual rates will increase from $80 to $90, and daily rates will increase from $8 to $9. But monthly memberships will be cut in half: from $30 to $15. And instead of having to renew online each month, those renewals will be automatic.

"We're looking to add value," says B-cycle executive director Nick Bohnenkamp, who explains that the changes were due in part to user feedback. Buying an annual membership calls for a large lump sum up front, he explains -- and if you're not sure how often you'll be using the B-cycle service, paying month by month might be a better option.
The B-cycle plus membership, which gives you an extra hour of included riding time, will stay at $100. For all other memberships, only the first thirty minutes are included in the price. Any ride between half-an-hour and an hour has $1 added to the bill. After an hour, it's $4 for each additional half-hour ride.
Denver Bike Share, a nonprofit, owns and operates B-cycle, along with several other community sponsors. There are now 84 stations in Denver, holding 700 bikes.
Ultimately, Bohnenkamp says, the changes are about creating a better service: "We want to get more bikes in the right place, at the right time, to meet customers needs." Have a tip? E-mail [email protected]
