It was a cause for celebration.
On Monday, July 11, Aurora City Council tabled a measure that would have allowed Denver Meadows RV Park owner Shawn Lustigman to sell the twenty-acre plot of land between Interstate 225 and Colfax Avenue – which happens to be by the light-rail tracks of the R Line, set to open later this year – and effectively displace the RV park's residents, many of whom are Latino and low-income.
Council told Lustigman to work on a plan to help residents pay for their moving costs.
The council's decision was a small victory for the residents, who have been fighting Lustigman on the issue for several months.
Photographer Brandon Marshall attended the July 11 meeting and visited a few residents in their homes to learn more about the community.
