Yesterday's announcement from the Denver Police Department was short and very sweet to anyone who's been following the fallout from the DPD's handling of the Michael DeHerrera case: "Denver Police to Re-Open Investigation."

Here's the entire announcement:

The Denver Police Department has re-opened its internal investigation into the incident that occurred at 15th and Larimer Streets on April 4, 2009 involving Denver Police Corporal Randy Murr and Officer Devin Sparks.

Additional witnesses and new information has been made available to investigators. As a result, the case has been re-opened for investigation. The Office of the Independent Monitor will actively monitor this case throughout the entire process.

That's it -- except for the standard heading on the top of the release: "The mission of the Denver Police Department is to deliver high quality public safety services so all people may share a safe and healthy environment."
