Update: Last week, we told you about a homicide on Stout Street between 21st and 22nd; see our previous coverage below.
Now, the Denver coroner's office has identified the victim as Derick Wilford, 36.
However, there have been no breaks in the case thus far.
According to the Office of the Medical Examiner, the time of the incident was 2:57 a.m. on August 12.
Emergency personnel found Wilford suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to Denver Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Thus far, neither photos nor additional information about Wilford have surfaced, and police haven't shared any additional details about the suspected motives behind the crime.
For the sake of Wilford's family, friends and loved ones, to whom we offer our sincere condolences, we hope that progress is made in the investigation — and made soon.

Original post, 5:20 a.m. August 12: Once again, the tranquility of an early morning in Denver has been shattered by gunfire.
In the latest incident, a man was found shot — and while emergency responders raced him to a nearby hospital, he didn't survive the wounds.
Moreover, investigators have released no suspect information at this writing.
The first official word about the shooting came via this Denver Police Department tweet, sent out at 3:21 a.m.:
BREAKING #DPD is investigating a death at 21st & Stout St - Vic transported to Hosp. where he died. Active investigation.

The location is captured in the following interactive graphic. If you have problems seeing the image, click "View on Google Maps."Among the journalists who hurried to the scene and tweeted images were 9News' Noel Brennan....

...and CBS4's Rahel Solomon:

— Rahel Solomon (@RahelCBS4) August 12, 2015
Solomon adds that neighbors report hearing gunfire quite a bit in advance of that first DPD tweet — approximately 2:15 a.m.
As for the police, a followup tweet suggests that the shooting was neither accidental nor self-inflicted — and notes the aforementioned dearth of information about a possible suspect or suspects:
#DPD Update death at 21st & Stout is being investigated as a homicide. 1 adult male Vic. appears to have been shot. No suspect info.
— Denver Police Dept. (@DenverPolice) August 12, 2015
As we've noted, there were twenty homicides in Denver during the first half of 2015 — and given subsequent killings involving the deaths of Dydrick Martin and Jorge Lopez-Ramirez, as well as this incident, the pace of such tragic events doesn't appear to have flagged.
Our condolences to the friends, family and loved ones of the thus-far-unidentified victim.
