Update:
Yesterday morning, we told you about the search for Jonathan Ryan, who was wanted for a shooting in Arapahoe County; see our previous coverage below.

Now, Ryan is in custody after he returned to the home where the incident took place. Following a brief standoff with law enforcers, he surrendered — a moment caught on cell-phone video on view here.

We also know the identity of the victim in the case — Ryan's 71-year-old father, with whom the suspect recently took a vacation they documented with gorgeous scenery shots and portraits (like the one above) that speak to a deep familial bond. He was reportedly shot in the face and remains hospitalized in unknown condition.

Thus far, we don't know what led to the violence — but a neighbor says the father said shortly before he was shot that his son needed help.

The most recent item on Ryan's Facebook page was shared on July 25. The caption reads simply, "Road trip with my dad."

...as well as another portrait of son and father, whose identity we're disguising because he's considered to be at at-risk adult.

In recent days, however, such happy scenes were replaced by discord.

The woman engaged to marry Ryan — they got engaged earlier in July — told 7News that she hadn't spoken to her fiance for several days. They had gotten into an argument, after which she went to see Joan Jett at the Labor Day weekend Taste of Colorado festivities.

In addition, a resident who lives near the Ryan household on the 5500 block of South Jebel Way revealed having heard an spat shortly before the shooting to Fox31. The neighbor spoke briefly to Ryan's father, who said that his son needed help.

Then, just after 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, emergency personnel were dispatched to the home on a medical call. Upon their arrival, they learned that Ryan's father had been shot in the face.

By the time Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office personnel reached the scene, Ryan was long gone (he and his father had been the only people at the home when the shooting took place), and an alert was put out for him and his red truck — a vehicle would prove key when a neighbor noticed it parked by the house yesterday afternoon.

Law-enforcers responded in force, arriving at around 3 p.m.

As they set up a perimeter, a reverse 911 call was sent out to 37 local phone numbers, asking residents to stay in place for the time being. A local school was also impacted.

The subsequent standoff didn't last long.

At approximately 4:15 p.m., according to the ACSO, Ryan surrendered.

The moment was captured on a cell-phone video obtained by Fox31. Here's a screen capture:

No booking photo of Ryan has been made available at this time.

However, the ACSO confirms that he has been arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and crimes against an at-risk adult.

Original post, 6:43 a.m. September 9: It started out as a medical call, and that was accurate.

But it quickly turned into something more.

That's because the person in distress had been shot — and at this writing, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office is searching for 31-year-old Jonathan Ryan, who's suspected of pulling the trigger.

Ryan's Facebook gallery sports plenty of portraits, including the playful photo above and images such as this one....

...and a third pic featuring glasses.

His timeline, meanwhile, cites two status changes on July 15: "Got Engaged" and "In a Complicated Relationship."

He came to the attention of the ACSO at 5:24 p.m. yesterday, when emergency personnel responded to a home on the 5500 block of South Jebel Way.

There, they found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Thus far, investigators haven't revealed the identity, or even the gender, of the person shot — and that individual's condition is unknown as well.

No doubt about their interest in Ryan, though. He's described as a six-foot-one-inch, 175 pound Caucasian with brown hair and eyes.

As for his ride, he may be traveling in a 2003 red or maroon Ford 150 truck with Colorado license plate 764 GGI.

The vehicle is seen in the following photo, which appears to be a screen capture from Google Maps.

If you see Ryan, you're cautioned against approaching him, since he's suspected of being armed.

Instead, dial 911.

Those with additional information about Ryan's possible whereabouts are encouraged to phone the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office at 303-795-4711.
