Kaleb Andre Serrano will never get to know his father, Jorge Serrano.

But he'll grow up knowing his dad died while trying to be there for his birth.

Serrano, a 29-year-old resident of Greeley, was killed in a crash on Monday, February 1, as he rushed to the hospital where his wife, Evaline, had gone into labor.

According to the Greeley Tribune, Kaleb was born less than thirty minutes after Jorge died.

Serrano's Facebook page features a number of portraits, including this playful image.

Such shots share space with images aplenty of family members, including Evaline and their six-year-old son, Kayden.

A few weeks back, he shared a photo of a very pregnant Evaline and Kayden at a medical facility, where she was receiving care.

Then, on Monday morning, Evaline went into labor at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.

Serrano was already at work at the time.

He was employed at a Walmart distribution center near Cheyenne, Wyoming, to which he commuted from the family's Greeley home.

Here's a look at that facility.

When Serrano got the news, a snowstorm was ranging throughout the area, making travel treacherous.

At 9:55 a.m., according to the Colorado State Patrol, Serrano's car drifted across the center line of U.S. 85 just south of the Wyoming border.

An instant later, he struck a semi-trailer head-on.

The driver of the truck survived the crash, but Serrano was pronounced dead at the scene.

A CSP spokesperson told the Tribune that Serrano was traveling at too high a rate of speed for the conditions — something tragically understandable under the circumstances.

In the meantime, Evaline gave birth to Kaleb, who reportedly measured 19 inches and weighed 6.1 pounds.

He's healthy and doing well.

His family, however, is in mourning over Jorge's loss, with many of them changing their Facebook profile pics to graphics like this one.

Thus far, there's no word about funeral or memorial services.

We offer our sincere condolences to the friends, family and loved ones of Jorge Serrano.
