"We received some information overnight," says Araphaoe County Sheriff J. Grayson Robinson, reached moments ago, "but nothing that's relevant at this point."
Video from the light-rail station at County Line and I-25 showed Graham safe and alone on Thursday night at approximately 11:40 p.m., Robinson notes. That's led to speculation that "this was a random encounter that turned into a confrontation," Robinson goes on. "Although we don't know whether robbery was the motive. We recovered all of Andrew's personal belongings, but we recovered them about two blocks away from the site of his death."
According to Robinson, "we've not had anything similar to this happen in our service area" -- a fact that's unsettled neighbors. Even so, "we believe it remains a safe community, and we don't believe there's any immediate danger to our citizens." Still, "we always encourage people to be aware of their surroundings, and to be aware if there are any suspicious people in an area -- and if there's suspicious activity in their community, to contact the Sheriff's Office so we can investigate."
Robinson emphasizes that "this is an ongoing investigation, and we have large numbers of resources assigned to this case." He adds, "We certainly hope someone will come forward and give us information related to this senseless killing."
