Servando Flores Busted, Freed in Murder, Brett and Paul Yamagiwa Behind Bars

It's a strange and tragic situation with more questions than answers thus far.

Examples: Servando Flores was busted in the wake of a murder at his Thornton apartment, only to be freed, at least temporarily.

Meanwhile, brothers Brett and Paul Yamigawa were jailed for burglary and more — and they're said to have entered Flores's apartment with the man who was later killed. The result is an incident that shares at least some elements with a Make My Day case.

Right now, the Thornton Police Department is offering only the broadest outlines about what happened.


At 4:55 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, according to the TPD, officers were dispatched to building seventeen, apartment 201 of the Madison Park complex at 3352 East 120th Avenue.

The report: shots fired.

Upon their arrival, the cops found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

As noted by CBS4, investigators believe four people were in the apartment at the time shots rang out. Two of them were detained at the scene, and another pair — likely Flores and a woman who neighbors say also lived at the apartment — fled in a vehicle but were stopped by police near 20th and Chase in Broomfield.


Like the victim of the killing, the woman has yet to be ID'd

In the meantime, police say the "deceased individual entered Flores's apartment with the Yamagiwa arrestees."

That would be Paul and Brett, both of whom have Facebook pages with photos aplenty.

Right now, the brothers are the only pair in custody.

Paul is being held for investigation of aggravated robbery, first-degree burglary, first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft and unlawful possession of a Schedule II narcotic — what's thought to be meth.

Brett, for his part, is suspected of aggravated robbery and first-degree burglary.

And Flores? Police are no doubt trying to determine if he shot an intruder in self-defense or if he has also committed some kind of crime.
