As the weather warms up, the number of metro-area shootings tends to rise.
Witness two fatal incidents that took place yesterday.
The first took the life of a motorcyclist in Denver.
The second killed a man in Northglenn.
The Denver matter is being investigated as a homicide — but that designation has not yet been placed on what took place in Northglenn.
The first official word about the initial shooting came via this Denver Police Department tweet, sent out shy of 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 3....
#Alert: Officers on scene of shooting in 3200 block W. Nevada Pl alley. 1 reported victim. No suspect info at this time. More info as avail.

...and followed by this update:
#Update Adult male shooting victim from 3200 block W Nevada Pl pronounced deceased. Homicide investigation underway. PIO responding to scene

The 3200 block of West Nevada Place is not far from the intersection of West Alameda Avenue and South Federal Boulevard, 9News notes.

As for the specifics of what happened, a thus-far-unidentified man was reportedly riding in the alley at around 12:45 p.m.
That's when he was confronted by another man.
And things soon turned violent.
The motorcyclist was shot and killed.
Thus far, the DPD hasn't released any information about a possible suspect.
That includes whether or not the victim and his killer knew each other.
A few hours later, at about 6 p.m. on Sunday, the Northglenn Police Department issued information about a killing in its jurisdiction.
The address: the 11800 block of Sylvia Drive. Here's an interactive graphic from that area.
NPD officers were dispatched on a report of "a man down," the department notes.
Upon their arrival, they found a man lying on the sidewalk with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
A weapon was located nearby.
The man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 7 p.m.
He has yet to be identified.
Northglenn authorities say simply that "this case is currently under investigation." This suggests a number of possible scenarios — and homicide is only one of them.
Nonetheless, the fact that the shooting took place on a public street was undoubtedly disturbing for those in the neighborhood.
We hope more people aren't a witness to such horrors as the days warm.
