The Commerce City Police Department originally described the discovery of two bodies on East 52nd Avenue as "suspicious." But they were clearly more than that.

At this writing, a homicide investigation is underway.

The CCPD is keeping all but the most basic details about the case under wraps "to preserve the integrity of the investigation," according to a department release.

As such, all we know thus far is that officers responded to the 5000 block of East 52nd Avenue at about 7:30 a.m. yesterday after two bodies were discovered.

Shortly thereafter, detectives and crime scene investigators reached the scene and police announced the closure of 52nd between Dahlia Street and Forest Street for the lion's share of the day as they launched a homicide investigation.

The scene is certainly a desolate one, as can be seen in the graphic below. If you have problems viewing the image, click "View Larger Map."
