Original post, 10:46 a.m. September 3: At first, the Tuesday, September 1 killing of Dwayne Banks, 33, on Grape Street seemed like one of those crimes that wasn't going to get the attention it deserved, despite the deadly nature of the crime.
But the Denver Police Department subsequently made it a priority, pushing out information about suspect Charles Porter III, whose whereabouts are unknown at this writing — and who, despite his smile in the booking photo seen here, is thought to be both armed and dangerous.
The incident took place on the 2600 block of Grape Street, an area captured in the following interactive graphic.

The first tweet about the incident from the Denver Police Department, seen out shortly after 9 p.m. on Tuesday, made no mention of gun-play.
Here it is.

In the beginning, there was little TV news coverage of what happened that night, although CBS4 did send out a crew, capturing images like this one.......and this one:
But the DPD now reveals that upon their arrival, officers discovered a deceased man outside a residence who appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds.
Earlier this morning, the Denver coroner's office identified the victim as Dwayne Banks, age 33.
Banks's cousin shared the following photo of Banks on Facebook....
...and asked folks to keep his family in their prayers.
Condolences are also collecting on Banks's Facebook page. One says, simply, "R.I.P. bro."
In the meantime, the department notes that an arrest warrant has been obtained for Porter, 24, for investigation of first-degree murder.
If you have any information about Porter's whereabouts, you're encouraged to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867), which is offering a reward of up to $2,000 in the case.
Our condolences to the friends, family and loved ones of Dwayne Banks. Look below to see a larger version of Porter's booking photo.
