According to a reliable source, Clear Channel Denver employees have been called to an all-staff meeting slated for 2 p.m. this afternoon -- the very sort of get-together that preceded layoffs in January. (This blog documented the start of the bloodletting at Clear Channel, while its successor estimated the total layoffs at eighteen in the absence of comments from Clear Channel executives.) Adding to the case of nerves is the latest column by Inside Music Media guru and University of Southern California professor Jerry Del Colliano's latest column, entitled "The Next Radio Firings." Del Colliano says he's hearing that there could be as many as 1,000 layoffs chainwide; he adds that the firm "may be looking to eliminate at least one more live on-air talent from every station that hasn't been completely decimated so far."

More news as it becomes available.

Update, 2:15 p.m.: Radio and Records is reporting more staff cuts at Clear Channel outlets across the country, as well as the suspension of a 401(k) match program. Also included: details about job losses in thirteen markets, from Los Angeles to Albany, New York. Nothing on Denver at this writing.
