The latest iteration of this routine followed the announcement that a film entitled The Anatomy of Hate: A Dialogue for Hope would be screening at Durango's Fort Lewis College on November 9 -- yesterday. The WBC faithless responded with the following press release:
WBC TO PICKET SCREENING OF "THE ANATOMY OF HATE," AT FORT LEWIS COLLEGE (1000 RIM DRIVE, DURANGO, CO), TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 9, FROM 4:45-5:30 PM"Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, & not suffer sin upon him." Lev. 19:17
God Almighty told you what "hate" is: it's your refusal to rebuke proud sin! Keep pretending that preaching the righteous judgments of God against proud rebels is equivalent to violent crimes based on personal ill-will. That hollow lie is obvious on its face, however, and won't change God's verdict on the matter:
"Woe unto them that call evil good, & good evil." Isa. 5:20
YOU'RE GOING TO HELL.
Word about this potential abomination quickly spread among the Fort Lewis community, and according to the Durango Herald, when the time for the threatened picketing came, more than 1,000 peace-and-love ralliers were in place -- among them Fort Lewis president Dene Kay Thomas and the community's mayor, Michael Rendon.
But there was something missing: The contingent from the WBC, whose members were probably back home at the time, chortling to themselves about the furor they'd stirred.
Why they'd do so is unclear. After all, the rally brought together people of all descriptions to celebrate diversity and community, and to decry the vile messages represented by Westboro. And that's a good thing whether or not Phelps and his obnoxious minions think they pulled a fast one or not.
