The tornadoes and hailstorms that plague Denver's northern suburbs often leave gardeners of the area wondering how to decorate the stumps and twigs that are left behind in their yards and gardens. The tree trunks that have been carved into cartoon characters seen pictured above suggests that this particular Northglenn resident can find the silver lining to all storm clouds.

The rough carving of the bear pair intimate that this is the work of an amateur without formal stump-art training . However, the exquisite paint job and keen attention to cartoon-animal neckwear indicate that this yard artist has learned everything that she knows about the natural world while watching television. That these stumps were never replaced with real trees also hints that that the residents of this home have grown tired of raking up leaves and picking up branches after every spring and winter storm.
