He adds, "It doesn't affect the deals. It just cuts into our profit, which we're happy to do."
Your Lucky Deals will start by offering deals on Tuesdays and Fridays, Smith says. Today's deal is for 50-percent-off tickets to Jungle Quest, a kids' adventure course in Littleton. Eventually, Smith says he and his sister, Dana Morgan, hope to offer up to five deals a week. "A big part of our demographic is maybe a young couple with one or two kids," Smith says. "That's what our deals will reflect."
Ten percent of the proceeds from every deal will go toward four charities chosen with the help of a contest on Facebook. The charities are MaxFund, a no-kill animal shelter; SafeHouse Denver, which helps victims of domestic violence; the Denver Rescue Mission, which serves the homeless; and Boulder-based Educate!, which empowers youth in Uganda. At checkout, shoppers can select which charity they'd like to donate to.
"It's a win-win for charities, for our subscribers and for local businesses," Smith says.
