"This will allow us to provide a robust and diverse set of opportunities for vendors and consumers along the 16th Street Mall, to enhance the experience of the vendors and consumers along the 16th Street Mall and to promote greater use of the mall vending area on the median along the 16th Street Mall," says DDP spokeswoman Jenny Starkey.
SmashCart -- an offshoot of Smashburger -- is scheduled to join the mall lineup on Monday, May 7; it will be stationed at 16th and Welton streets. Just down the block toward California, Southida (Sue) Pham has been serving Vietnamese fare at Pho n Grill since April; Spice India, owned by BJ Ankodia, is also parked along that stretch.Taste of the Philippines, run by Kathy Geitl, is now stationed at 16th and Champa streets. And Casa Cuba, a semi-permanent kiosk, should open at 16th and Arapahoe on Monday, May 7.
And that's not the end of the changes on the mall. Brooke Comai, owner of Summit County-based Climax Jerky, who already has a cart at Denver International Airport, will be selling her jerky -- beef, buffalo, elk, venison and more -- on the mall this summer. You'll be able to wash it down with Maui Wowi fruit smoothies; that cart is slated to roll up to the block between Glenarm and Tremont streets by Thursday, May 10.Follow @CafeWestword on Twitter and at facebook.com/denvercafesociety
