The Digs: When Bump and Grind shuttered its doors two years ago, we lamented the loss of drag queen brunches and wondered what would become of the Uptown space that catered to severe hangover. Enter Park and Co., a burger joint and bar whose décor is so downplayed that the only remaining hint of Bump and Grind is the existing bar -- and even thats a different color. Large portraits sparingly grace the dark walls, and the barstools are aluminum, giving the entire room an industrial vibe. The patio is spacious and one of our favorite places to imbibe afternoon beers in the summertime, and any bar that has a Foosball table gets points in our book.
The Verdict: Having a beer and a shot is singularly the best way to take the edge off -- outside of drinking a martini on an empty stomach or starting an illegal drug habit. So, naturally, we were stoked that Park and Co. offers an entire menu of beer/shot options for happy hour revelers. Combos range from the Blue Collar -- a PBR and a shot of Wild Turkey -- to the sophisticated and oh-so-local Colorado Mountain Man, a lovely combination of Great Divide Pale Ale and a shooter of Stranahan's. Want something stronger than beer? There are martini options, too. We like.The happy hour offerings at Park and Co. are limited to $2 sliders, which do the job, but the regular menu has fantastic bar snacks for five bucks (we're fans of the soft pretzel and cheddar fondue). Our server was slightly distracted and a bit slow, but her charmingly sweet personality made us feel at ease. Park and Co. is a cozy neighborhood hangout if you're in the mood to meet friends and chill out, but here's a tip: Sit on the east side of the bar, because the front door makes the west side a tad chilly.
