Beer Calendar: Tappings at Strange Craft, Baere, Locavore and Black Project

Everyone screamed for ice cream after New Belgium Brewing and Ben & Jerry’s teamed up on their first beer collaboration last year, so the two like-minded companies are planning another one for this fall. "Inspired by one of Ben & Jerry’s smash hits, New Belgium has developed Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ale," the companies say. "Fifty-thousand dollars in proceeds will benefit Protect Our Winters (POW) a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness around climate change. As Fellow B Corporations beholden to stakeholders, including their communities and the environment, the two like-minded businesses have long championed similar causes.... B corps are held to performance standards that are comprehensive and transparent, measuring a company’s impact on workers, suppliers, communities and the environment."

It's English-style cask month at Copper Kettle Brewing. "A cask-conditioned ale is beer that is brewed from traditional ingredients and matured in the cask from which it is served. This means that it is fresh and unfiltered and therefore has a unique flavor," the brewery says. Today, Copper Kettle will tap XXX Stout, "a very dark, moderately strong, fairly dry stout with prominent roast flavors." Mestizos Food Truck will be on hand.

Falling Rock Tap House will tap a new beer from Left Hand Brewing today at 4 p.m. called Pride Runs Deep IPA. The limited-release beer is part of the Longmont brewery's Big Mo series and will also be available in liquor stores in 22-ounce bomber bottles. Pride Runs Deep was brewed with Colorado blue-spruce pine tips and was made in support of the USS Colorado Commissioning Committee. "Running silent in the deep for months at a time, the attack sub and 134 officers and crew members are armed and ready to protect our oceans and territories from threats against our freedom," the brewery says. The release will be done "in the company of supporters and veterans. Proceeds will help support the Committee, funding commissioning events and supporting the crew."

Westfax Brewing will host a beer-and-cheese pairing today featuring four five-ounce beer samples with four one-ounce samples of cheese. Both the cheese and the beer will be available for purchase during and after the event. A limited number of tickets are available. Representatives from both Westfax and Mouco Cheese Company will be on hand. Tickets, $15 in advance or $20 at the door, are available at the brewery or from brownpapertickets.com.

Friday, July 1
Black Project Spontaneous & Wild Ales is a side project of Former Future Brewing, but Black Project's beers are made in such a limited quantity that they are rarely on tap at the brewery and are primarily sold at monthly bottle releases. But Black Project is hijacking the taps at Former Future today for "a night of 100 percent wild, spontaneous and isolated yeast beers," the brewery says. The tap list should include Peach Rye Whiskey Dreamland, Kalmar 100-Percent Spontaneous Gose, Kalmar with Fruit, a not-yet-released Black Project Saison, a not-yet-released Black Project Saison with Oats and Wheat, and more. Former Future will also launch a new monthly event today called the Brewer's Table. Held on the first Friday of every month, it will include a tour, tasting from the barrel, one bottle of a Black Project beer, two ten-ounce pours of any beer on tap, and charcuterie from the Truffle Cheese Shop. Tickets are $75 per person, with a limit of six people per session. "Please expect to share a table with others if your party does not include six people," the brewery says. It's July, which means time for the return of Jul-IPA at the West End Tavern in Boulder. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. every day this month, and the West End will host a variety of festivities and offer beer specials, all featuring everyone's favorite hoppy beer, the IPA. There will also be a mini-satellite tap room every Tuesday and Thursday, with beers from breweries from across the country, including Wildwoods, Elysian, Denver Beer Co, Telluride, Odd13, New Belgium, River North, Stone and Avery. 

Strange Craft brings back its Watermelon Hefe today for a limited time. The summer seasonal is brewed with 660 pounds of organic watermelon. "Bright and crisp, this easy-drinking wheat brew is perfect for a hot summer day," the brewery says. It will be available on draft and in bomber bottles to go.

Copper Kettle taps Freedom Kölsch today, in time for July 4 celebrations. "The 2014 Colorado State Fair Gold Medal Winner is a bright German pale ale and has a light, creamy finish, making it a perfect pairing for all your summer festivities," the brewery says. The Savory Life will be there serving food.

Saturday, July 2
Locavore Beer Works in Littleton will host its second annual Freedom Fest celebration today from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The brewery will tap its seasonal Jolly Farmer Watermelon Wheat beer. There will be corn hole, tie-dying for adults and kids, four live bands, and food from Brad’s Pit BBQ. There will also be limited-edition T-shirts and glassware. C Squared Ciders, located alongside the Rackhouse Pub and Bierstadt Lagerhaus, will celebrate its one-year anniversary from 2 to 9 p.m. today with a party featuring live music by the Atomic Drifters and Hot Apostles, food from the Rackhouse, a 1969-and-older car and motorcycle show, games and prizes, and small-batch cider releases. Admission to the family-friendly event is free.

Baere Brewing will celebrate its second anniversary today with a variety of events and its first bottle release, new and aged beer tappings, and scoops of Sweet Action Ice Cream made with Baere beer. The bottle release is Frambruin, a mixed-culture barrel-fermented sour brown aged on raspberries and conditioned in 375ml bottles. Each costs $12, and there is a limit of two per person. Tappings include Mosaic Dry-Hopped Anniversary Barrel Aged Sour; El Dorado Dry-Hopped Anniversary Barrel Aged Sour; two batches of Brett Hoppy Brown; Plum Table Sour; Frambruin (August 2015); Fists in the Air (Barrel Aged Sour — September 2015); F/Stops Here — The Brewtography Project collaboration — (Laws Whiskey House aged Imperial Stout collab — Sept. 2015); LensCap — The Brewtography Project collaboration — (wine barrel fermented Sour Stout); and Wine Barrel Aged Imperial Stout (April 2015).

Sunday, July 3
Today Odd 13 Brewing in Lafayette will release cans of Hop Wizard, a heavily dry hopped pale ale, only in its tap room. "Coming in at 5.5 percent ABV and hopped with HS 07270, Mosaic, Citra and Azacca, this pale ale is bound to mesmerize your tastebuds...but be careful of the Wizard's spell," the brewery says.

Wednesday, July 6
The Brew on Broadway (the BoB) in Englewood will celebrate its third anniversary today by releasing its 2016 Gothic Sour Milk Stout, along with "many earmarked BoB special brews that have been lurking in the cooler," the brewery and coffee shop says. Saturday-night events include the Mighty High Grateful Dead Cover Band and El Tep's Mexican Street Kitchen Food Truck.

Friday, July 8
Bruz Beers, Denver's newest craft brewery, will host its grand-opening weekend today through Sunday. The brewery, specializing in authentic handcrafted Belgian-style beers, will have a variety of seasonal and specialty beers, food trucks, live music and more.

Saturday, July 9
Party with Mu Brewery today at its second anniversary. Mu will have Pile High Burgers serving food and a live performance from Thunder and Rain from 4 to 6 p.m.

Lone Tree Brewing Company and Odell Brewing have collaborated on "a big, juicy American IPA brewed with Chinook, Simcoe and Mosaic hops  that will be tapped at Lone Tree Brewing today," say the breweries. It was made to support CancerBlows, an organization that supports the Ryan Anthony Foundation, and will be part of today's Brews 4 CancerBlows event. There will be musical performances by The Bob Montgomery/Al Hermann Quintet featuring Al Hood and Mass Hipsteria, outdoor games, hourly prizes, and food from the Gusto’s Kitchen food truck. This event begins at 11 a.m.

Sunday, July 10
Alpine Dog Brewing has put together a five-course beer-and-munchie pairing that was "specifically designed by two industry professionals at Alpine Dog Brewery for your 710 enjoyment," they say. Try five four-ounce beer samples, along with the appropriate munchie for each, for $15. "Because there's no better way to beat the lazy Sunday afternoon munchies than with some local beer and convenience-store snacks! Participants who stick around after the pairing will receive happy-hour prices on additional beers," the brewery adds. "We will only be selling forty spots, so act quickly and share with your friends."

Joyride Brewing will celebrate its second anniversary with a street party today starting at 11 a.m. There will be live music from FU^K, K-Law, Johnny Tarr, Muriel and the Deano's and Whillis. There will also be special beer tappings, food trucks, Dunk the Brewer, bouncy castles, face painting and more.
