About a month ago, I heard about a Littleton restaurant named Swirls that was putting out some awesome food, so I made a note to get down there to try the Southern-style cuisine. But a few days later, I heard that Swirls had closed.

Turns out that this fall, an odor began coming up from the floor of Swirls, which had opened in late spring. The smell got so bad that it was distracting diners from the food. The problem turned out to be a broken sewage pipe right under the dining room floor, and now there's a stinky legal battle between Swirls's owner, the landlord and the previous owner of the location, which had been a Piccolo's.

Here's hoping that everything gets straightened out soon so that Swirls can get out of the courtroom and back to cooking. -- Tyler Nemkov
