For my review in this week's Westword, I stopped by an old northwest Denver Italian institution, eating excellent take-away sandwiches at Carbone's Italian Sausage Deli. The shop doubles as a market, selling all kinds of Italian imports in addition to housemade sausages, which patrons can buy by the foot. And during my visits, I was just as charmed by my interactions with Rosa Lonardo, the woman who's owned the shop with her husband, Nick, for the last 37 years.
