Colorado Chocolate Festival and Five More Sweet Culinary Events This Weekend

Today is your last chance to grab a free taco at Rusty Taco, which has been celebrating its one-year anniversary all week long. The local link in a national chain will also be donating 20 percent of all food sales today to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. And for another freebie, stop by a Good Times outlet. To promote its new, all-natural, nitrate-free bacon, the stores will be adding free bacon to any sandwich this weekend when you say  #betterbacon. Take the money you've saved to buy Mom some fun at one of these tasty culinary events. And stop by a Lamar's Donuts on your way; they're giving a free doughnut to any mother on May 10.

Friday, May 8 

Spice up your love life with an evening that’s guaranteed to stir up more than just delicious dishes at Cook Street School of Culinary Arts tonight. The school's Culinary Date Night class, which runs from 6 to 9:30 p.m., will teach couples how to cook up their own special night for $89. You and your sweetie can register here.

The Colorado Chocolate Festival will pour into the Denver Merchandise Mart this weekend, just in time for Mother's Day. The fun starts at 4 p.m. today, and will feature chocolate treats of all kinds, chocolate contests, tastings, jewelry, clothes, imports, crafts and much more. The GrowHaus is hosting a También Spring Pop Up Dinner from 6 to 10 p.m. today. The three-course pop-up will feature some of Denver’s best restaurants and local libations, with all proceeds benefiting the GrowHaus’s food education, production and distribution programs. Saturday, May 9 

Each year on the second Saturday in May, letter carriers across the country collect non-perishable food donations from customers. These donations go directly to local food pantries. All you have to do to help out is to fill a bag – or any container – with nonperishable food; leave it for your letter carrier, they will do the rest. For more information click here. 

Sunday, May 10 

The Savoy Event Center will host Amuse-Booze starting at 7:30 p.m. today. The comedy/bartending hybrid will have you rolling on the floor and around the bar. This month, bartenders Jessica Wilkinson from Euclid Hall, Haylee Ortiz from Oak & Session Kitchen and Carly Raemer from The Golden Moon Speakeasy will be competing to see who can shake up the best cocktails. Treat your mom to a fun, interactive Mother’s Day brunch cooking class today and give her a gift she can keep using: some killer cooking skills.
