I had a pretty good turn-out for my first book signing at Katie Mullen's a couple weeks ago.  There was a good crowd, plenty of drinking, lots of laughs.  Surprisingly, lots of people seemed to be very excited about finally getting their hands on a copy of my book (Cooking Dirty: A Story of Life, Sex, Love and Death in the Kitchen, available now wherever fine books are sold...).  Even more surprisingly, no one showed up to take a poke at me.  But maybe that's understandable.  I was surrounded by friendlies, after all.  And while, for the most part, alternative newspaper journalists to not make the most intimidating bodyguards, they can be dangerous in large groups.  Like ferrets, I guess.  One ferret?  Not so much trouble.  But thirty ferrets is a different story.  Especially thirty drunk ferrets all fired up on call whiskey and greasy bar snacks.

But I digress...

If you happened to miss me at Katie Mullen's, you now have another shot because tomorrow--Thursday, July 23rd--I'll be doing another appearance, this time at the Tattered Cover on Colfax.  And tomorrow, I won't just be signing my book, but actually talking a bit, taking questions, and reading from the thing, too.  So if you're after an evening's free entertainment, are interested in seeing a (relatively) sober little Mick getting up and saying a bunch of dirty words in public, or perhaps would like to do some good by spending your hard-earned green at a great, local, independent bookstore and picking up a copy of my book in the process, tomorrow is the night.

Things ought to kick off around 7:30pm. With any luck, I'll be showing up early enough to mingle.  And I can't wait to see you all there.

Oh, and if you're curious about what you're getting yourself into, or just want to see whether Cooking Dirty is an actual book and not just a bunch of doodles of stick-figures humping, you can check out a nice, long excerpt right here, courtesy of NPR.
