The Croke-Patterson Mansion is a historic gem, with official designation from the Landmark Preservation Commission, Colorado State Register of Historic Properties, and the National Register of Historic Places. And new owners are ready to add a new chapter in that history, opening the building as the Patterson Inn, a B&B complete with a bar, Maggie's.

The Croke-Patterson was commissioned and constructed in 1891. It was occupied by a long line of state senators and congressmen, but had gone through almost seven more owners before Travis McAfoos and his partner, Brian Higgins, were given the chance to restore it to its original glory -- as a B&B named the Patterson Inn.

The B&B has nine swanky rooms, ranging from "The Biltmore," modeled after the famed North Carolina landmark, to the gothic splendor of "The Prague," a space with a 27-foot vaulted ceiling and medieval chandelier. An entire wall of "The Library" has a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf. There's also a dining and reading room, as well as a cozy space for libations: Maggie's, an intimate pub named after the daughter of one of the first mansion occupants, which already passed its liquor-license hearing.

"The pub will have all the elements of a traditional Irish pub -- rich woodwork, card tables..we want it to feel period-specific so our guests remain aware of the history of the property," explains McAfoos. "And the drinks will follow suit."

The most interesting thing about the pub, however, might be its neighborhood membership program. "When the inn opens, the pub will remain exclusive to guests of the inn," says McAfoos. "However, we're planning on exploring some other options down the line."

But if you can't wait for the partners to work out the details for that pilot membership program, the Patterson Inn is slated to be ready for occupancy in August, and you can always check it out by checking in..
