The Mayan calendar ends this Friday, December 21, which some people believe predicts the end of the world. As a precaution, the Curtis Hotel, 1405 Curtis Street, is offering would-be refugees a Party Like There's No To-Maya package this Friday. The deal includes rental of the entire fifteenth floor; limousine transportation; two fully-stocked bars; "a spread of truly glutinous foods"; "Apocalypse-worthy" amenities (frozen foods, gas masks, anti-radiation tablets and water purification tablets); and an on-premise tattoo artist providing complimentary, last-minute ink.

Tuesday, December 18: The recently-opened Bin 1884 Cheese Bar, 1886 South Pearl Street, is hosting a special tasting for the holidays from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening. The shop will open four to six bottles of vino for sampling, and will serve various cheeses and meats. Space is limited and reservations are required; call 303-722-5478 for more information.Wednesday, December 19: Lucky Pie Pizza & Tap House, 1610 16th Street, is showcasing beers from River North Brewing today, with a special tapping at 5 p.m. The beer-centric pizza joint is also midway through its Twelve Beers of Christmas celebration, so there will be a special release from Sierra Nevada on tap as well.
