The Highland neighborhood is changing, and changing fast. At the start of the year, tenants at Dickinson Plaza suddenly learned that Henry Dickinson had sold the complex at West 32nd Avenue and Tejon Street that had been in his family for 115 years — long before the area was dubbed LoHi — for a cool $6.8 million to Trammell Crow Residential. And all nine businesses in the complex's storefronts would have to get out soon: The Texas-based company planned to tear down Dickinson Plaza and put a five-story apartment building in its place.

Laughing Latte, a popular neighborhood coffee shop, was one of the first to go; it has yet to reopen. Late-night fave Mary Jane's Pizza closed on May 28; it plans to move into a spot at 3090 Downing any day. The last eatery to leave, Fat Jack's Subs, finally left earlier this month for new digs just around the corner at 3326 Tejon.

And as of today? Dickinson Plaza is dust.
