Fifteen Tastiest Events on the Culinary Calendar for Denver, July 29-31

Today is National Chicken Wing Day, and Buffalo Wild Wings is celebrating by giving you half-price wings all day long; fly off to the nearest B-Dubs to cash in on the deal. But there are plenty of other tasty happenings around town this weekend — from the Denver County Fair to beer fests to restaurant pop-ups. Friday, July 29

Lou’s Food Bar is celebrating National Chicken Wing Day with a patio party at 5 p.m. today. The restaurant will offer 50-cent buffalo, jerk, bacon cheeseburger and raspberry habanero wings. This event will double as the launch party for Lou's new Snack and Brew series, for which a local craft beer will be paired with a Lou’s food special each month. Chef Hunter Pritchett, formerly of Luca, will bring his Los Angeles-based Chinese food pop-up restaurant, GoldenBoys, to The Source today.  It's a collaboration with chef Theo Adley of RiNo Yacht Club; the two will be serving a special menu for one night only, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. — or until the food runs out. The Denver County Fair takes over the National Western Complex all weekend, starting at 4 p.m. today. Bring the whole family for shows, blue ribbon contests, live music, exhibitors, dancing, food, drinks and much more. For those with a hardcore appetite, Andrew Novick's X-Treme Pancake Breakfast and X-Treme Breakfast Burritos will offer over 100 toppings, plus 31 flavors of butter for your pancakes, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday. Saturday, July 30 

The Way Back launched its P's Are Wild happy hour last weekend and will continue to offer specials on pink wines, prosecco and punches, as well as a bartender's choice drink, every Saturday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on the patio. Check the Way Back's Facebook page for updates on P's Are Wild specials.

The West End Tavern has been celebrating the Jul-IPA Festival all month, and today it culminates with a rooftop IPA party featuring hoppy beers from eight breweries, live music, BBQ, a live auction and more. Tickets to the party, which runs from noon to 3 p.m., are $20, and all proceeds will benefit Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence. You can get all the details at thewestendtavern.com.   

The second annual Wing Celebration takes over the Denver Deep Dish parking lot from noon to 4 p.m. today, with a wing-eating contest, plenty of adult beverages, a raffle, live music and more. Your $25 general-admission ticket includes four drink tickets and an order of wings or Polidori sausage; go with the $45 VIP ticket and get unlimited wings, sausage and drinks from noon to 1 p.m. Grab your tickets here. 

Breckenridge Food and Wine brings seminars, wine samplings, live music and food to the mountains today.  At the grand tasting, which gets underway at 2 p.m., you can sample 250 varieties of wines from nearly 35 wineries, and nosh on small bites from local chefs and food purveyors. Take a walking tour of the Tennyson neighborhood during Taste of Tennyson. From noon to 2:30 p.m. today you can stroll to breweries, shops, bars and restaurants on this walking beer tour, which includes three beer tastings at each of the four stops, snacks, interactive beer education and more. Tickets to Taste of Tennyson are $30, and can be purchased here. 

Luca is hosting a cheese-making class at 4 p.m. today. Chef Tim Murphy will teach you to make a few Bonanno favorites, including burrata, mozzarella and ricotta. Following the cheese-making class, there will be a three-course dinner with beer and wine pairings. The class, including dinner, is $100; call 720-737-4277 for reservations. 

First Draft Taproom & Kitchen is celebrating its first birthday today and tomorrow by throwing a crawfish boil from noon to 5 p.m. each day. First Draft will also be offering special tappings. For more information, contact First Draft at 303-736-8400. 

Sunday, July 31 

Get a taste of the new pasta-centric venture from chefs Alex Figura and Spencer White, Dio Mio, during a three-course pop-up dinner at Uncle. There will be a 5:30 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. seating; tickets are $30, and can be purchased here. 

Pitches, Putts and Pints pairs two favorite summer activities today. The fun starts with a par-three tournament at Harvard Gulch, which will be followed by beer and prizes at Platt Park Brewing Company. The cost for the tournament, which runs from 12:30 to 3 p.m., is $35 for individuals or $120 for a team of four; register and learn more at altitudebeerventures.com.    

KOSI 101.1 presents classic films and tasty brunch offerings twice a month at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. Today the theater will be screening Grease at 11 a.m. Tickets are $40 and include brunch, a cocktail and exclusive shopping deals at Aspen Grove. Get tickets at drafthouse.com.
