Mc Doo's latest breakfast menu item is 100 percent natural whole grain oats with light cream and optional brown sugar, topped off with fresh diced red and green apples, dried cranberries and two kinds of raisins.
And if you miss this outpouring of oats, or just have a craving for oatmeal overload, then on Saturday head over to the 15th annual Quaker Oatmeal Festival in Lafayette, held at Pioneer Elementary at 101 East Baseline Road. Festivities commence at 7:30 a.m. with a hot oatmeal breakfast featuring "the world's largest oatmeal toppings bar." Organizers note that lines are shorter between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m.
Events include a health fair, the "Quicker Quaker" 5k walk/run and an oatmeal baking contest. There's a free shuttle at the City building located at South Public Road and South Boulder Road. Shuttle service will run continuously form 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to and from Pioneer Elementary.
