Bailey started the Great Fruitcake Recycling Project in 2005, and this holiday season she has partnered with Glad Food Protection Products to help support the #SAVEITSUNDAY movement to reduce food waste in the home. Your home, in this case. Between now and January 24, 2014, if you send your fruitcakes to Bailey, she promises to find them a good home. See also:Five worst Xmas foods -- knock off the eggnog!

Here's the sad news about the Manitou Springs Fruitcake Toss Facebook page:
We regret to report that iManitou will not be hosting the Fruitcake Toss in 2014. Over the past few years, the change in venue, lack of sponsors, and the unpredictability of the weather have decreased attendance at this event. Additionally, responding to natural disasters with a reduced budget and staff over the past two years has made it necessary for iManitou to prioritize their events based on attendance, so we will be focusing our efforts primarily on the Wine Festival and the Emma Crawford Coffin races for the time being. If you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring and organizing the Fruitcake Toss in the future, please contact us. We would be happy to discuss a plan to transition the this event to other sponsors and hosts.
All other iManitou events are being evaluated at this time, and input as well as sponsorship interest should be directed to our staff and board at 719-685-5089.
