Gunther Toody's southeast Denver location has closed

The Gunther Toody's chain was founded over three decades ago by a couple who wanted to revive the diner culture and then inject the "diner philosophy" in assorted Colorado cities.

The chain eventually grew to eight locations around Denver and in Colorado Springs; the closing of the Alameda spot takes it down to seven.
