Summertime, and the living is breezy.
Denver diners and drinkers are obsessed with patios -- and restaurateurs are obsessed with giving them what they want. Whether it's just a couple of chairs stuck out on the sidewalk or acres of elaborate decks, almost every joint in town has an outdoor option. So through the summer, we'll be sharing some of our favorites.
First up, the Vine Street Pub, the focus of a recent Drunk of the Week that's still drawing comments.
Vine Street Pub 1700 Vine Street 303-388-2337
The folks from Boulder's Mountain Sun have brought a bit of sunshine down to the corner of 17th and Vine, the old home of Milagro Taco Bar (and Juanita's long before that). And from the moment it opened a month ago, Vine Street Pub was a hit. The microbrews are part of the draw, but so are the patios -- two wide stretches of sidewalk on either side of the entrance, which put you right in the center of the neighborhood action: people on their way home from dog walks and Frisbee-tossing sessions in City Park; refugees from the Thin Man down the street, where it’s near impossible to find a seat on the cute, but very tiny patio.
The pub doesn't have a full bar, but it doesn't need one -- there are plenty of microbrews to keep you busy tasting until long after the sun goes down.
