One of Denver’s favorite new breakfast spots just expanded its menu to include dinner service Thursday through Saturday. And starting this week, Onefold is now offering all-you-can-eat-small plates for $18. Items like a Chinese street sandwich with pulled pork; artichoke and manchego croquettes; and Indonesian-style kaya sweet toast make it easy to fill up for a great price. This deal runs all evening in addition to happy-hour drink specials from 4 to 6 p.m.
While the breakfast and lunch menus were created by owners Terese and Mark Nery, who drew inspiration from meals they cooked at home, the dinner menu is the work of Melissa Yanc of La Fillette Bakery. Yanc established a relationship with the Nerys when La Fillette started supplying the baked goods at Onefold. The Nerys were excited to bring Yanc in to develop a dinner menu, knowing that she has spent time working at popular restaurants like Uncle and Mercantile Dining & Provisions.
When I asked Terese about Melissa’s title at Onefold, she paused, stumbled on her words for a minute and then got up and yelled back to Melissa, “What do you want us to call you?” She returned a few seconds later: “Chef de cuisine,” she informed me.
And Mark? “Oh, the kitchen just calls him 'Asshole,'” she says and laughs.
Neither Terese nor Mark take themselves too seriously, and it’s refreshing. They joke and laugh constantly and just want to serve people good food that they would eat themselves. And they do. Terese says they eat the same things at home that they serve their guests. She doesn’t feed her kids junk food and says it feels good to know that “I feed you guys the same things that I would feed my kids.”
As of now, there are ten dinner items to choose from, many having Filipino or Chinese inspiration. Beer, wine and cocktails can be found on the drink menu with $3 beer and $6 wine during happy hour. Dinner service is offered Thursday through Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m.
