Peruvian Eatery Limón Closes on 17th Avenue

Denver is short one Peruvian cafe after Uptown's Limón closed yesterday. Chef/owner Alex Gurevich had opened the Novoandino eatery in 2006, serving upscale cuisine heavily influenced by the South American country. There's a sign on the door of 1618 East 17th Avenue that announces the closing, and the restaurant's Facebook page now promises something new for the space, noting that the team is "very excited to debut our new concept — stay tuned!"

Gurevich has opened and closed a number of fun concepts over the years, including Ay Caramba in Cherry Creek (which is now home to the second Osaka Ramen), Campagna on Sixth Avenue (and its replacement, My Other Bar), and Bisque in Lakewood.

The bar next door to Limón, appropriately called the Next Door Lounge, is also owned by Gurevich and will remain open.
