Rick Marion, owner of the Pizza Pedal'r, which calls itself "the pinnacle of pizza in the Park" -- that would be Winter Park -- is opening a second Pizza Pedal'r in Denver, namely in the Prospect neighborhood, where it will join a mini restaurant row, including Santiago's and Tokio, a new Japanese restaurant from Mikio Hashimoto, the former owner of Japon.

It's a "fantastic location," writes Marion on the Pizza Pedal'r Facebook page. The space, which is currently under construction, was once a former handbag factory, and, adds Marion, "is surrounded by condos and town homes, so the density is definitely there." And while parking in that 'hood, which is just behind Coors Field, is tight, Marion notes that "for those who want to drive and 'catch' a pie, there will be sixty dedicated free parking spots for our development."

The original Pizza Pedal'r, which opened in 2011 in the heart of Winter Park Village, tosses small, medium and large pizzas, all of which are named for bicycle lingo: "Shred"; "Granny Gear"; "Gonzo"; and "Kicker," to name a few. "Although a great mountain for skiing, Winter Park is known for its summer mountain biking trails, inspiring the name, decor, and style of Pizza Pedal'r," notes the website, adding that the board also includes garlic bread, chicken wings, salads and desserts. And beer.

Marion has a liquor-license hearing set for June 20 at 9 a.m. at the Wellington Webb building, and according to the Facebook page, he also plans to open in June.
