Hearing that the Barker Lounge had closed after a series of other high-profile restaurant and bar closings around town, a reader lamented that all of the cool places in Denver are vanishing. But these readers disagree. Says Tony:

Native here. If anything uncool is happening, it's self-pity. Change is inevitable. We can look at it either way, and it does no good to get bent out of shape over things we can't change. Or can we? What CAN we do? We can have a good attitude! We can find the good, rather than looking for something to complain about! Gentrification and cannabis-crazed influx, oh my! Denver is flourishing, and everywhere you're willing to look, there are amazing things taking place, because of the decisions we've made as a community. It's truly sad to see some places go, but clinging to the past will age you faster than time. Get out there, Denver! See the good in our great city! And if you can't see it anymore, then you owe it to yourself to move on. Life is too short to be miserable. Anywhere.

Denver has, like, 30 billion cool places; every time I venture to a rarely visited part of the city, I usually find some cool place that brings me back. There's a lot of shit places, too, but I mean...just don't go there. Speak with your wallet.
