Cheba Hut is coming to the 16th Street Mall this summer, bringing its "counter-culture" sandwiches, including Kind, Kush and Chronic. But according to Matt Clark-Johnson, co-owner of this store as well as the Boulder franchise of the Tempe, Arizona-based chain, Cheba is about more than pot references. "it's juvenile, but it works well," he says. "It gets customers in the first time and it keeps them laughing. Once they eat the food, they keep coming back."

The fact that this Cheba Hut is going for a full liquor license, as we report in this week's Off Limits, should help, too. Clark-Johnson plans to open July 4 at 1531 Champa Street. That's the space once occupied by the Rock & Roll Grill, an ill-fated venue that took over for JC's Ground, which put on Christian concerts.
